This year, Pluto re-entered Aquarius for the first time in 235 years. The last time said (dwarf) planet passed through that same constellation was from 1777 to 1798—a 21-year period that saw the founding of the United States, the Haitian revolution, and the deposition of the last King of France and his wife, Marie-Antoinette. Often falsely attributed the quote of Qu'ils mangent de la brioche, the extravagant Queen consort was accused of a frivolous disregard for her starving subjects suffering from bread shortages, for which she would eventually pay with her head. Creamcake’s ninth 3hd holds this demonized public image to account with “Let Them Eat Cake,” an interdisciplinary festival, running from October 27 to November 4, and examining the current era of exploitation and opulence at the edge of insurrection.
